Spring quickly came in the blink of an eye. Leaves were starting to fall and it was getting warmer and warmer each day. The baby sat gracefully in her mother’s arm, her arms and legs flailing and laughed whenever her father pulled faces. Already she has such a dirty laugh, The father thought and smiled. The mother would spent hours gazing and smiling down at the baby sleeping in her arms.
“She’s beautiful.”
A smile crept across the father’s face as he nodded lightly. “Why don’t we name her Hikari?” And so,  the name was given to her. Hikari Shirokawa. Hika giggled in appreciation of her new name. She was very adorable as a child. Very wild and playful as well. She’d play crickets and board games with her father and tag along beside her mother whenever she went out for shopping. It was all going so well and smooth until inevitable problems started flooding the house. Everything shattered into a million pieces. Juro, Hika’s father, was caught with another woman at a bar and was later found out that he had been deceiving and cheating on her wife all this time.

Every second of the days were like hell for poor Hikari. She couldn’t bear the yelling, the torture, and the enormous pain growing inside her heart, any longer. She would actually do anything to go back to the times where the whole family sat the dining table and talked about her future and how much they actually loved her. Days and years went by, seasons changed but everything still remained the same. In fact, it got worse. Her father kept going out with women and eventually became an alcoholic, when her mother went into depression and developed into a drug user. Hika could no longer live together with them, especially not in a house full of drugs, beers and prostitutes. After all, she was just only 5 years old.

All she ever wanted was a mother who would take care of her, hug her tight whenever something’s wrong and tell her which way is right and which is wrong. But she was just a mere child to them, whom they abandoned and forced her to the back of their minds. Just when Hika turned 7, both of her parents passed away; her mother died from the overdose and her father got smashed in a car crash. Regardless of all those bullshit that has been dragging her down to the pits of hell, Hika grew up as a pretty, nice and healthy child at an orphanage.

The light in her heart would glow brighter day by day as her desire for a mother grew stronger. But, there were those jerks at her orphanage who would always bully her ever since she arrived because those girls were jealous of her white long hair. That day, the freaks tied her up, dragged her to a place she had never been to before and planned to beat her up into a pulp. 4 vs. 1. She couldn’t win against them. Her knees and elbows were scraped, her cheeks sore from the slaps. She vulnerably watched as one of the girls raised her arm high above her head. Just as the girl almost bring her hand down Hika’s pale face, her whole body illuminated with bright light, blinding the other girls.
“I’m still here with you, Hika, and I’ll always be.” At a distance she could see her mother standing in front of her, smiling down at her. She vanished into thin air and that was when Hika realized that she had magical powers. She left the orphan and went out to find ways to enhance her magical powers.
