APPEARANCE

Description:Amali is very small for her age, and very light, due to malnutrition. Her skin is very pale, but not fragile as one might expect, unlike her bones which are not as strong as they might have been had she grown up under different circumstances. She doesn’t have much muscle mass, nor fat tissue, being almost nothing but skin and bones. Despite this she can still carry more than a girl her age should be able to carry, although with a little difficulty balancing.Along her back, shoulders, and legs, scar tissue crisscross her skin, an agonizingly slowly disappearing reminder of her past.
Her hair is a dark purplish-blue, reminiscent of the distant sea, or the center blue of an iceberg, and hangs down to her waist. Amali's eyes are only a few shades darker than that, and they sparkle with curiosity when she learns something new.
She holds herself with a tall posture, shoulders back and head held high, however when she thinks no one is watching she loses her prideful posture and gains a more subservient one.
On a regular day, Amali wears a short skirt, generally in dark blues or other cool colours, and always with a bit of lace or ruffles. Her shirts are generally lighter, pastel colours to contrast with her skirts, often but not always with cute designs on them. Amali's general footwear is sneakers, with knee-high patterned socks or stockings, but she will often go barefoot for no particular reason other than it had become habit.
PERSONALITY
Personality: Amali is very reserved and withholds her judgments until someone is clearly either good or bad. She herself tries to be good, however she acknowledges the fact that the right way may not always be the 'good' way. To her, fighting is necessary for survival, however violence is an unnecessary cruelty that is unacceptable. Even someone raising their voice in anger is seen as unnecessary violence,
Amali has vast amounts of patience, rivaled only by her vast amounts of spirit. Her presence in a room is hard to miss, but she doesn't like being the center of attention. In fact, being the center of attention puts her on edge and extremely nervous.
Her lack of voice complicates her ability to communicate, but she doesn't enjoy having to explain this to everyone, often trying to hide it from them. Instead of revealing her disability, she remains silent and reacts to what is said with seemingly absent-minded hand gestures, allowing them to come to their own conclusions of what she's thinking. Because of her severe lack in education, Amali cannot even communicate through writing however she is very skilled at housework and proper etiquette in the presence of nobles and the like.
Motivations: Amali searches for a safe place to live, where there is no violence, no fear of being harmed. She knows that this is merely a dream that will likely never come true, however she still finds hope to continue her search.
Fears:
- Captivity: having escaped from imprisonment once, Amali has consistent nightmares of being recaptured, or having never left.
- Claustrophobia: Amali has been locked and tortured in small rooms- any room at all where she can't immediately leave when she wants to will cause small panic attacks if she stays for too long.
- Storms: Amali has never liked storms, but after having traveled over seas, they will never be anything but terrifying
- Monsters in the Closet: Many children have fears of unknown scary monsters hiding in the dark, including Amali who has seen some of these monsters.
Likes:
- Birds: Amali has always envied the freedom a bird has, unbound by land or humans.
- Family: Amali has dreamt of a family her whole life, and although she doesn't admit it, she longs to have one.
- Wind and Sky: Amali owes her life to the spirits of the wind for saving her life, if not her voice. She reveres the wind like a god, in memory of the being that saved her.
Dislikes:
- Large Dogs: they remind her of a past full of monsters, which she really wants to forget.
- Violent People: Another thing that reminds her of a past she wants to remember, however acts of violence are very much against her moral codes.
- Dishonesty: regardless of how much damage revealing the truth might cause, lying is never an option
- 'baser desires': not only does it distract one from the task at hand, it's just gross. Amali can't even stand watching couples kiss.

You may have been a criminal, a slave, or some other such illicit individual. The brand is such that it cannot be easily covered, and a cursory search reveals it each time. Law enforcement agents of any lawful land will immediately take you into custody if they see the mark, for extradition or imprisonment. It is your choice as to whether or not you were falsely accused of the crime.
Explanation: You have a visible sign on your body that can not be hidden. This sign reveals itself clearly when you are in the presence of Rune Knights which will allow them to freely arrest you. Every time you get arrested you must pay a fine to the local authorities to get out. Resisting arrest will result into a larger fine.
MAGIC
Magic: Elumien
Type: Caster
Element: Wind
Description: Amali’s silver feather grants her control of the ‘west winds’, which simply means that all of the spells she cast will use or summon a wind blowing from the west.
Elumien focuses on aiding others, using buffs to improve their senses or capabilities. The magic is entirely incapable of harming anyone, and cannot be used with the ultimate goal of causing pain to someone or destroying something.
Sidenote: Even though the magic is part of Amali and not a holder magic, she believes it is tied to the silver feather given to her by the wind-bird and if she loses the feather, she looses all ability to use her magic.
HISTORY
History: Amali was born on the mysterious continent of Alakasia, where she lived with her parents for three years before she was kidnapped by slave traders. She doesn't remember anything about her life on the unknown continent, just her name and the voice of her mother, though even that has faded to only the distant echo of a memory.
From such a young age, she was raised and abused, treated like property to be bought and sold from noble to noble. She prayed every night to any higher being that would listen to be given a chance to escape and find her family. Every morning for six years she woke up still a slave to a greedy or violent person. Every night for those six years she fell asleep crying. It wasn't until at the end of those six years that she found a way out. She had been sold to someone on the eastern side of the continent, and was transported across land with a dozen other slaves.
One night while the group was sleeping, something responded to Amali's plea for help. A large bird made of silver wind visited in her dreams and healed her wounds.
This repeated every night after she prayed: the bird would arrive in her dreams and heal her wounds and ailments as she slept, which continued on for three years. This arose suspicion with other slaves, and with the man who had bought her. She was watched while she slept, until the wind bird arrived. Enraged by how she was getting special treatment while they suffered, some of the slaves attacked the wind bird while others took Amali and attempted to slit her throat.
The wind bird, being a powerful magic beast, fought off its attackers easily, then went immediately to Amali's side. She was still clinging to life when the bird found her, and she was healed quickly before the large bird swept up with her to the sky.
The bird left her on an island not too far from Fiore with a parting gift: the ability to use its own magic, given with one of its silver feathers.
Amali was left alone, half way across the planet, but she had never felt more free. She came across a group of merchants travelling past and asked them for refuge with them until they reached the mainland, which was only reluctantly agreed to when she attempted to explain her situation and found she had no voice to explain with.
It took a few months of traveling through the islands before the merchants arrived back at the kingdom of Fiore, where Amali set off on her own.
