Taiho Seiker -The Frozen King- 33217c9a2fdcb64300e65a15328c338d6ee5397f

A regal master of cold Taiho’s body emulates the night that he comes from, lacking any distinct color except for the icy blue eyes that pierce the souls of men. He stands tall, towering over most beings and standing out vastly in a crowd of folks, the aspects of his ascension are always visible and attention catching such as the severe chill and dense fog that accompanies his presence. His skin normally is very smooth, ice like in a way that it carries no blemishes at all. With a crown of silvery-white hair atop his head that falls down into bangs he has an overly handsome look that can capture and hold the attention of any woman he decides to focus on. His outward appearance however hides beneath it a rough and rather crass inner appearance, that of his true immortal kingly self. Upon accessing his actual true power, Taiho’s appearance shifts from that of a young, handsome prince into a cold, demonic king. His skin turns blue and marbly, gaining small folds that look like cracks in ice. His hair recedes into an ivory crown of thorns across his his head and his eyes begin to glow slightly as well. His cold presence grows exponentially, being felt by all within his range of control (which is the max range of any spell of his own rank).

His clothing is rather practical for his station, a set of cloth and leather patches held together by twine and chain forms his pants and jacket, underneath that is a chainmail set of armor that protects his body from metal weapons. When in his King appearance the outward clothing turns to ice and fades away leaving only the chainmail behind. A cloak of ice appears on his shoulders in it’s place and extends down to his feet.

III. PERSONALITY

Personality: A rather distant fellow, Taiho is the embodiment of an eternal being. Never truly phased by any of the small or major changes in the world around him, he has watched the rise and fall of countless human civilizations and knows that in the end only he will remain to continue his given task. Due to this truth he maintains an aloof persona, only truly showing emotion when around people of the opposite gender. He can come off as rude or crass, his tone and speech showing a great deal of age, the weight of his words putting out a pressure that normal men can’t ignore. He enjoys watching people, the daily monotony of human life interesting him slightly as he sometimes can’t quite put a finger on what makes humankind as a whole tick, because of these he always seems to press buttons, prodding this way and that to see which thing will be the one to lead to an interesting discovery. He does not care for the loss of life, whether it be his own or that over others, and considers death to truly be a temporary means to an end. His love for the Night is the only thing that drives him, aside from his over the top hatred for the Watchers, and is truthfully his one true goal, to enshrine the entire planet in eternal darkness, then and only then could he find peace in his life.

In battle he is seem as cool and collected, weighing every attack unflinchingly. He does not retreat, moving forward even when others would fall back but always prepared with some spell that could counter any move his enemies make. His arsenal seems endless at times, overbearing for opponents who would attempt to kill him for the infamy of his legend. His use of the cold as a mind game in fights makes him a true menace, knowing how little tolerance to the cold most if not all humans have. Showing true immunity is something he can respect, it shows that the person can stand alongside him in the time of the eternal night.

Motivations:

  • Preventing the Watchers:

Having lived during the time of the Eternal Night, he remembers vividly the cruelty that comes with having the Watchers enslave and abuse the masses of humanity. While seemingly cruel himself, his twisted views on the world have only further fueled the need to protect a world that he considers to be so childish and vain.

  • Bringing about the Eternal Night

While he wishes to prevent the Watchers from returning that does not mean that he himself does not want the Eternal Night to return, in fact it is the complete opposite, he wishes to be the cause and catalyst for the return of the Eternal Night and will do any and everything to ensure that it comes about.

Fears:

  • The Watchers

A rather mythical subrace of an even greater threat. No one quite remembers the Watchers like Taiho does. And no one remembers the fact that you can’t kill a Watcher, only push them away. In the end, the Watchers will return, and Taiho fears the day they do.

Likes:

  • The Night
  • The Cold
  • Fighting

Dislikes:

  • Weakness
  • Heat
  • Complancy
  • Ignorance

Positive Traits:

  • Regeneration (+4): You heal very fast inside and outside of combat. Small cuts that go up to one inch deep are healed in the next post.
Explanation: C Rank damage healed every post.
  • High Society (+2): You know good manners and were trained to handle social interactions in noble circles. This is useful in requests involving members of the highest levels of society, such as monarchs, nobles, courtiers, lords and ladies, and high-ranking clerics.
Explanation: You are capable of having threads with nobles. Those without this feat cannot.
  • Daunting Presence (+2): You are skilled at inducing fear in your opponents.
Explanation: Players of lesser rank cannot initiate combat against you, but are capable of defending themselves.
  • Diligent (+2): Your meticulousness allows you to analyze minute details that others miss.
Explanation: Reduces training cost of spells by 10% in word cost.
  • Persuasive (+2): You have a way with words and body language. Somehow you manage to persuade weaker minded people easily.
Explanation: When using this feat, players will have to roll a bronze die. Failure to land on a number results in them agreeing with you.

Negative Traits:

  • Aloof (-1): Your manner is cold and unapproachable, distancing you from friends and strangers alike. Your preternatural intelligence lends itself to viewing others as slow-witted and a waste of your precious time. Your charisma is lowered.
Explanation: You can't act nice to people and you can't make friends easily.
  • Arrogant (-1): You firmly believe that you are better than anyone else is. Your ideas are the best, your clothes are the most stylish, and you have to let everyone else know how much better you are. Once in a while you openly show contempt or disdain for someone else.
Explanation: You must at least act arrogant one out of five posts.
  • Bad Reputation (-1): You have a reputation that angers or frightens people. Examples include being unlucky, petty, or cruel. The rep may or may not be accurate, but in either case, word travels faster than you do.
Explanation: You can't communicate easily with non player characters. Somehow they've heard of you and the things they've heard weren't too good.
  • Branded (-2): You have fled for a crime committed and now have a prominent brand. You may have been a criminal, a slave, or some other such illicit individual. The brand is such that it cannot be easily covered, and a cursory search reveals it each time. Law enforcement agents of any lawful land will immediately take you into custody if they see the mark, for extradition or imprisonment. It is your choice as to whether or not you were falsely accused of the crime.
Explanation: You have a visible sign on your body that can not be hidden. This sign reveals itself clearly when you are in the presence of Rune Knights which will allow them to freely arrest you. Every time you get arrested you must pay a fine to the local authorities to get out. Resisting arrest will result into a larger fine.
  • Cruel (-1): You have a sadistic streak that causes you to perform acts of cruelty for no good reason. Of course, this doesn't endear you to others. Most times you are prudent enough to carry out your cruelties on those under your thumb, rather than those you see as equals. However, you carry a constant social stigma, as rumors have their way of getting around.
Explanation: You must perform an act of cruelty one out of five posts.
  • Daredevil (-2): You only really feel alive when you're staring death in the face. Your character is addicted to the thrill of death-defying stunts, pushing themselves to the limit at every available opportunity.
Explanation: You can't refuse the opportunity of engaging into combat with anyone or anything that is stronger than you. You also always volunteer and perform tasks that have a risk attached to them when you are in a group.
  • Dark Secret (-1): You have some sort of secret that, if revealed, would make you an outcast amongst your society and companions. While this secret is on your mind at all times, it will come up in topics only once in a while, but when it does, watch out!
Explanation: You must think about your dark secret at least one out of ten posts. When things that are relevant to the dark secret are brought up you can't stop thinking about it.
  • Harbinger of Ill Omen (-1): You seem to be cursed to forever bump into a specific person, time and time again. Each time you do, something bad happens not long afterward. This person in no way does this purposefully, it just happens with alarming frequency.
Explanation: You will have character assigned to you by roleplay department of staff who will enter you threads randomly from time to time. When this happens, staff will change the conditions of your thread against you. Such as heavy storm, avalanches or beasts catching onto your smell.
  • Lecherous (-1): You have a lusty nature and a tendency to pursue the pleasures of the flesh. A woman or a man (however your tastes run) is an almost irresistible temptation to you. You give in to these temptations easily.
Explanation: If fighting or RPing with someone of your sexual preference, you must act lecherous towards them once every three posts.
  • Righteous (-1): The end justifies the means. You are willing to perform morally repugnant actions in order to achieve noble goals. Unfortunately, this can alienate those people who might support your cause if you didn't use such heavy-handed methods.
Explanation: Your beliefs guide you so strongly that you are willing to kill an entire village that's harboring a thief, if it kills the thief too.

IV. MAGIC

Magic: Armory of the Ivory Crown
Type: Caster
Element: Ice/Frost
Description: A hidden mystical magical art. The Armory is a product of eons of magical cultivation of Taiho’s dedication to the art and mastery of ice. His primary form of assault and defense, his true mastery over the element and his creations shows the dedication to the gift he was given. The art itself allows him to summon forth weapons and armor that he has gathered throughout his travels. This in itself is nothing different from the normal traits and attributes of most Requip magics, however it’s the armories ability to convert the elements of all of these to the purest of Ice forever encapsulating the weapon in an eternal state. The bonus to this is that it allows him to freeze on contact any substance or object that his magic effects. The downside to this is it does not allow elemental diversity when it comes to casting multi elemental magics which ReQuip is known for alongside it’s impressive weapon capabilities. The duration of the freezing is dependant on the rank of the spell in question.

V. HISTORY

History:

When you become such an iconic figure that in the grand scheme of things every action and inaction becomes weighed against your overall merit, that is when you realize that sometimes it’s better to step up to the plate and man up for your sins rather than wallow in pity and seek vengeance from those who cannot even provide themselves closure.

As a forward when considering Taiho, understand that while his background and character are relatively the same as his darker version Teiho, he himself is an enigmatic persona whose whole premise is based on such a whimsical thing as fate. At the end of the day it is all based on if he had the right meetings, heard the right words, had the right mindset. These are the things that build and define Taiho and will inevitably lead to two different outcomes both in which are possible and must be expanded on further.

-Creation-

Taiho was birth beneath an open sky in the great northern fields of the continent. He was brought into the world after the Watchers had already raped and pillaged his people, his parents or what he would soon begin to call creators were barely human, more along the lines of pawns tasked with birthing yet another tool for the Watchers to use for their mundane chores. His parents hadn’t actually given him a name, merely known by a rough grunt or a clearing of a throat. He wasn’t given a true name until he had lived for five winters, which was considered a grace period for new infants. Considering the infant mortality rate due to the sheer cold of the long night it was considered taboo to name a child before it had proven to be strong enough to withstand its future.

Given the name Undt, he was tasked with leading the other children, or basically, indoctrinating them into the Watcher lifestyle to prepare them for their ascensions. It was around this time that whispers of rebellion had begun to grow, but like all before them, they were snuffed out quickly and quietly. He was allowed to grow without much interference from his mythical masters, having even lived most of his whole life without ever seeing one Watcher. He was even allowed to believe that it was all a fairy tale, the Watcher’s a mythical spooky bedtime story to scare children into being good. Then they arrived, among a great upheaval in his people. His parents didn’t cry out for him when he was taken, no one’s parents cried out for their children. They merely stood and watched, faces blank as their progeny was carried off to be turned into mindless slaves just like them.

Something in this sight broke Taiho, he had endured the cold, he had endured the lies and deceit, he had even endured the harsh conditions that prepared him for this moment, but to see the ones who had ‘cared’ for him basically stand aside like so many cattle. It shattered the very thing that called itself his essence. It was then he knew, he had to make a change.

-Breaking the Chain-

Despite what you may think the Ascension process was not... easy. There was no true acclimation period, they weren’t allowed to even prepare themselves for the process. A few inscriptions etched directly into the skin here, a curse or spoken word there, and then it began. The light, the screams of agony and distress. The crushing realization that the stories and fairy tales they were told as children to prepare them were all true and that it was happening to them right now, destroyed them. For Taiho however, it was a completely different experience. As he listened to the screams all around him he stared dead at his captors, memorizing their faces through tear stained eye lenses. He would commit them to memory as one by one his group fell over, their bodies incompatible with the power being given to them.

It was a harsh lesson, to watch as those you grew alongside died before your very eyes. Many of the others couldn’t take the sight, dropping to their knees and crawling over to long time friends and family. Broken siblings crying over their loved ones as their own life forces were snuffed out for all the wrong reasons. The survivors were given no recourse. Immediately put upon by the Watchers, they were taken away from their dead brethren, the sight forever etched into their hearts and minds.

It was many years before they were able to see the light again. The long winter had set upon the land the year they were taken and any harvest that could have been collected was immediately eradicated by the chilling grip of harsh winter. As a result many families withered away and died in the solemn cold. There was no parade as there usually was. No festivities. No one cheered. For they all knew what it meant for them to return. More children, more slaves, more sacrifices. It was at this time that the rebels had finally saw their chance to be set free, to end the tyranny once and for all. For while the children were undergoing their harsh training and indoctrination, the people had been planning tirelessly, plotting out every aspect until the day had finally come upon them.

Undt was the last to notice, but the first to react. Quickly pushing his Watcher Task Master to the side, he tackled a fellow survivor away from the epicenter as a massive explosion of fire tore through where they had once been standing. Only one other of his group and two of the Watchers had made it out of the assault, but all in all it was a success in the rebels eyes. So what if a few drones died. They wouldn’t have been helpful to the cause anyway.

He watched the Task Masters burn with his own eyes, the flames flickering about. It was at this point he knew, his life was going to change, for the better or for the worse, no one knew.

-Eye of the Storm-

Being immortal can have it's perks, existing across the generations, siring countless families and houses alike, yet Ulte didn't feel any sort of joy from this. His life was that of pointless decisions birthed from an ancient hatred of beings that had enslaved his original people and then slaughtered them wholesale in their inevitable uprising. Of course his people won otherwise he wouldn't be here, but his people hadn't survived the outcome either. Considering Ascension was a mystical event and only Watchers or other Iceborn could really perform it, and the Iceborn were well... they considered it taboo to do such a thing now. And so their people died off, through random accidents that had befallen them really. Great storms sinking ships, massive fires, random sharpened broom shafts. Misfortune merely followed the people and thus they fell into obscurity.

But that is no longer the story here as Ulte struggled with how he would make his life more than the mediocrity it was now. How could he bring about change. And it hit him. With his magical prowess and knowledge and the combined forces of other humans he could set out a force that would be prepared for when the Watchers returned. A crowning creation really. When it was all said and done, Ulte was proud of himself, he knew he'd be ready. Nothing would ever change how he felt about his given task.

-The Present-

If you were to ask about Taiho now, you wouldn’t get the story of Undt, or the story of Raif, or the story of Ulte. No you get the story of a lone young man, forever alone in his frozen castle in the center of a long forgotten city. The bitter cold keeping him from the world around him in a manner that soothed and pleased him. But as time went on, and the eons passed and the birth rights were passed from generation to generation, a sort of... cynicism grew within him. Why should these mortals who never fought for the safety and freedom of their people have such wide claims over the land. They weren’t even remotely prepared for the returning threat. Oh that’s right, the Watchers were coming back. After the warm summer that had existed over the lands for so long, the silly mortals had forgotten all about the Long Winter. But that’s fine. He’d rather show them how harsh the cold could be himself, than let the Watchers once again rule the land from sea to sea. There used to be a saying in Undt’s village. Winter was coming...

Well...

A cold calloused hand gripped it’s throne in quietly before aiding in rising the body from it’s slumber. The temperature of the city outside plummeted instantly as his eyes snapped open and the most pure of blue eyes gazed over the land, his land. He raised his hands upwards as the spirits of a thousand million Frostborne called out to him in triumph and agony before the sky overhead darkened into a heavy blizzard.

I guess you could say now...

Winter... Is here.
