APPEARANCE
Height: 6'1 ft
Weight: 162 lbs
Hair: white, semi-long length
Eyes: brown
Description: Malacanth keeps his hair at a decent length, just barely going down to his eyes. The hair usually just falls down, forgoing any stylizing. His skin is pale white, betraying no signs of time spent outside. His brown eyes are quiet light, with only the faintest traces of brown being present. His normal expression is fairly carefree, as if there isn't a worry in the world.
His normal attire includes a dress shirt, usually black, although he is known to change it on a whim. No matter the color, he always wears a red string tie, which he keeps undone unless its a special occasion. Over this dress shirt, he wears a white jacket that goes down to just above his feet. The jacket is usually unbuttoned, with exceptions being made for cold weather. His shoes aren't anything special, just black shoes. Malacanth carries around a rather unusual accessory, a red parasol. He always has it with him, even though it serves no practical purpose.
PERSONALITY
Personality: Malacanth is a boy with his head in the clouds. He floats through life without a care in the world, going at his own pace, no matter how fast the world is moving around him. Malacanth's sense of time is warped because of this, often times not being able to tell you what day it is or if it's day or night.
While his personality is rather unique, his sense of morals would be seen as extremely stereotypically heroic. He can't stand to see other's suffer. He will do anything to help someone in need, no matter how difficult the task. He will seek out anyone in need, even if the person doesn't want his help.
This airy and all around naive persona hides something that he himself doesn't fully understand. He is constantly looking for intimacy and closeness with others. Besides his brother, he has never truly been cared for, constantly floating through life without anyone to take care of him and his brother has taken its toll. This loneliness manifests itself in him being overprotective of Rosencrantz, and seeing even simple acts of compassion and kindness directed towards him as something he must pay back a thousand times over. For this reason he feels an everlasting loyalty to Illiad. Any disparagement of anyone who he considers his friend would be met with hostility.
Motivations:
Collect all 12 gold keys: Malacanth's desire to collect the zodiac keys would gain him quiet a bit of power, while not something he particularly wants, sees as a means of reaching his other goals.
protect his loved ones: From his brother to his friends, Malacanth wants to avoid their loss at all costs. He and his brother have been hurt to many times before, he won't let it happen again.
make the world a better place: He wishes for an idyllic world, where no one is ever hurt again. No matter how impractical, it is an ideal he'll fight for until the end.
Fears:
The sea: Ever since being captured by pirates, he has had an irrational fear of large bodies of water, connecting it to the sea.
isolation: His brother and him have been alone their entire lives, and so being alone is a foreign and scary feeling for him. While not needing to be next to someone at all times, not being capable of it freaks him out.
abandonment: Ever since they were at the orphanage, he has feared being left by the people he cares about. His father committing suicide left a deep scar and left him insecure about other's leaving him.
Likes:
Conversation: He loves socializing, and anyone friendly enough to talk to him.
Sleeping: Malacanth loves relaxation, and taking a good nap is something he can always get behind.
Helping: He loves knowing he has made someone's life easier, and would do it no matter the inconvenience for him
Dislikes:
Cruelty: He hates any injustice, and would do anything to stop them.
Suffering: He can't stand the sight of someone in pain. If he can do anything to alleviate their troubles, he would.
Seafood: Due to being at sea for a while, he got rather sick of fish.
Positive Characteristics:
- Diligent (+2): Your meticulousness allows you to analyze minute details that others miss.
Explanation: Reduces training cost of spells by 10% in word cost.
Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move faster than most people.
Explanation: C-rank speed buff passive.
Diehard (+2): You can remain conscious after attacks that would fell others.
Explanation: Allows for 1 A-Rank spell to be shrugged off. Damage is still applied, but no pain is shown. Limit of once per battle.
Negative Characteristics:
Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations.
Compulsive Honesty (-2): You cannot tell a lie, nor can you behave in a deceitful fashion. You tend to be blunt rather than tactful, even if it means insulting someone who you and your companions are trying to impress.
Explanation: You can't lie and you will tell the truth when someone asks you something instead of lying. So if your team is impressing an ogre and the ogre asks if you guys are truly from the guild you guys claimed you were and lied about it, you will screw it up and say the truth.
Daredevil (-2): You only really feel alive when you're staring death in the face. Your character is addicted to the thrill of death-defying stunts, pushing themselves to the limit at every available opportunity.
Explanation: You can't refuse the opportunity of engaging into combat with anyone or anything that is stronger than you. You also always volunteer and perform tasks that have a risk attached to them when you are in a group.
Inattentive (-1): Your mind has a habit of drifting off at inopportune moments. It flits from one thought to the next so fast that you have trouble getting it to concentrate on the here and now. As such, you are particularly unaware of your surroundings.
Explanation: You must drift off at least one out of five posts.
Fanaticism (-1): This can be a substantial disadvantage for a character, though it requires significant roleplaying commitment on the part of the player. The fanaticism can be dedication to a particular cult, religion, or god, or it can be more worldly-based, in the sense of overwhelming loyalty to a state, a military presence, or to a particular leader. Whatever their sources, the different types of fanaticism have several things in common. If a certain code of behavior is called for by the belief, then the character must conform to that behavior even if it conflicts with the immediate goals of the character and his companions. While fanaticism is not necessarily evil, it may certainly become tiresome to those who do not share the fanatics beliefs.
Explanation: You must always strongly act out to your beliefs even if it goes against your immediate goals or it brings the lives of people you care about in danger.
MAGIC
Magic: Celestial Spirit Summoning
Type: Holder
Element: multi
Description: Celestial Spirit Summoning is a magic that summons constellations by using gold and silver keys. Each summoning is connected to a specific key, with the twelve gold keys being the most powerful. The user itself can't cast any spells, but the summonings have access to spells specifics to themselves. Without the keys, the summoner cannot use the magic, but with them they can use as many as their mana pool can support.
HISTORY
History: Malacanth's early childhood is what many would call a tragedy, a mother who died giving birth to twins in a rather unusual 23 days of labor. Soon after, another tragedy struck. The father of the twins ended his life, due to a mixture of stress and grief over the death of his wife. With no family of any affluence, an orphanage was found for the boys.
This orphanage proved to be a poor fit for the younger of the duo. Constantly picked on, and little will to stand up for himself, he ended up hiding behind Rosencrantz more often then he would play. This situation only deteriorated, and finally the twins snapped. With a little convincing from his twin, they both set off on their own, scrounging for whatever scraps they could get their hands on. During this scrounging, he found his parasol, a treasure he would hold on to to this day. While arguably an even harder life than the orphanage, he found an odd sense of happiness in the months after running away. With no one but Rosen, he was allowed to be truly be himself, without a care in the world.
Sadly this situation didn't last forever, as a ship they were scrounging food from took off with them aboard. During the journey, they had the misfortune of pirates finding their passenger ship. Malacanth and Rosencrantz were lucky enough to be one of the few taken to sell later. While on the ship, the brothers were forced to do menial tasks. Little could be done under these conditions beyond the petty act of defiance his brother would do once in a while.
This life of forced labor would eventually be disrupted by a storm. While one of the most violent ones Malacanth had dealt with while being held captive, this one proved to be oddly fortuitous for the twins. This storm proved to be the doing of a famous sea creature, one he would later find out to be called a kraken. The monstrous beast attacked the ship, most likely looking for food, but Malacanth didn't really bother asking it for the exact reason. During the chaos, Malacanth and Rosencrantz were separated. Somehow, Malacanth ended up in the captain's quarters. A sane person would of made his way out of there, but Malacanth was never one to move faster than he wanted to, and instead spied a couple of shiny keys on the desk of the captain. Figuring he would have little need for them now that the ship was under attack, he claimed them for his own. Finding his way back on top of the ship, he was dragged onto a makeshift raft by a fellow captive. Through sheer luck his brother happened to be on the same raft and they managed to escape with their lives, and now a new set of shiny keys.
While a hazy memory, the brother seems to remember their raft being beached after a few hours. With little knowledge of where they were, they were lucky enough to have the old man who saved them with them. A rather knowledgeable old man, he taught Rosencrantz a magic that suited his beloved brother perfectly, and while not a user himself, he taught Malacanth those shiny keys weren't for a chest. He learned that the keys would allow him to summon friends, which he considered to be an absolutely amazing idea. While his brother trained to use the old man's magic, he taught himself through trial and error to create contracts with the celestial spirits he had. The old man, while not capable of helping him learn the magic, taught him of the lore around it, specifically the twelve zodiac keys. This fascinated the young boy, and his curiosity started him on the path of finding all twelve to see what would happen when they all come together.
After months of wandering, they finally found a sign of civilization. This civilization turned out to be the city of Fiorano, how they ended up there, is still a mystery to this day. As they entered the city gates, they were immediately stopped by an odd man. This man turned out to be Illiad Odyssey, who for whatever weird reason saw potential in the twins. Offering them a spot in his guild, and neither twin seeing a reason why not to accept, thanked the old man for all he had done, and parted ways to make a home for themselves in Dragon Maw.
