Rune Knights compromise the military fighting force of the Magic Council and Fiore. Contracted by the monarchy, they also serve as the Royal Guard and Garou Knights. Because of their military structure, the Rune Knights have ranks that are assigned based on a Wizard's fighting skill. While the majority of the Knights are Holders, there are some who are casters. Every Rune Knight is proficient magic.

Ranks

S Rank: Commander and General - There is only one General at any given time. They have a seat on the Magic Council, and command all of the Rune Knights. Those extremely powerful Knights who do not hold this title are stationed one in every major city. While there, they may request a Captain as their First, serving along side them in town. Once a town is chosen they are the commander of all law enforcement in that town, both Rune Knights and local police. Some Commanders are given special roles within the Rune Knights that only they can fill.

A Rank: Captain - Captains run the distinct squads in Rune Knights. They can also serve in lieu of a Commander if a city doesn't have one. Because of there only being three Squads within the Rune Knights, being a Captain of one is a great honor. Captains of Squads answer directly to the General and no one else, including Commanders.

B Rank: Lieutenant - Lieutenants serve alongside Captains in running their Squads. They are responsible for day to day activities within the Squad, including approving all jobs and Requests that members of their Squad take. Lieutenant's can act as the Captain of a Squad if there is no Captain present. They can also serve as a Second to Commanders stationed in cities.

C Rank: Sergeant - Sergeants are the leadership within the lowest form of a Squad. They are capable of leading small 2-4 man teams within a Squad, with only one Sergeant per team. Sergeants can fill the role of Lieutenant in a Squad if there is not one present. Sergeants call the shots for their teams.

D Rank: Private - Privates make up a massive amount of force within the Rune Knights. Privates may join a team with a Sergeant as their leader. Even Privates of the weakest stature are capable of enforcing the law within Fiore.

Squads

The Rune Knights are divided into 4 Squads, one of which cannot be joined without meeting prerequisites. Each squad has a different function within the Rune Knights, but the entirety of the Army relies on each squad doing their job to form a large cohesive unit.

Squad 1: Royal Knights - The Royal Knights are responsible for protection of the Royal family. They are able to hold threads with the royal family and their advisers even if they don't have the High Society Trait. The work directly for the Royal Family and protect them at all costs.

Squad 2: 1st Army - This is the meat and potatoes of the Rune Knights, compromising the largest part of their military force. Whenever there is a large scale battle, when you see a Rune Knight patrolling town, when you see Rune Knights investigating anything magical related, these are those Soldiers.

Squad 3: Logistics - Anything from healing magic to buffing magic, these Rune Knights are the support of the entire army. They gather intelligence, work as double agents in Dark Guilds, treat wounds, and some are even implants in Light Guilds to ensure they stay within the regulations put forth by the Council.

Special Forces: Garou Knights - Nobody joins this Squad outright. Each member served as a Captain and enlisted in the Rune Knights as a private. Those who joined the Rune Knights after having served elsewhere will never be considered for this position, as they cannot be trusted in the eyes of the King. When things get hairy, or there is a particularly dangerous mission, these masters of might and magic are dropped into the thick of things. These Knights are the best of the best, and are very selective in their recruiting process. They are the only Squad led by a Commander.

Rune Knights and their benefits

Rune Knights are employed by the Council and the monarchy of Fiore. As such they receive a monthly in game stipend from the Council based on rank. While not as much money as jobs, they are paid for their service. Furthermore, Rune Knights do not have to pay for a train, magic mobile, boat or airship ticket at any time. To take advantage of this, you simply post in the specific transportation section required and the government of Fiore will pay the costs for you. This also includes all travel that is not work related. The stipend you receive based on rank is as follows:

  • S Rank: 25,000J
  • A Rank: 20,000J
  • B Rank: 15,000J
  • C Rank: 10,000J
  • D Rank: 5,000J

*These numbers are subject to change.
