II. APPEARANCE
Height: 5’2”
Weight: 110 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Green
General Appearance: Lina has long blonde hair that sweeps just past her lower back. Typically worn down, it's cut into choppy layers that often looked disheveled thanks to her frequent and peculiar sleeping habits. Her emerald green eyes are rather large, and help give her a youthful appearance. Her body is still maturing, but has not-so-subtle hints at a womanly figure. While she isn't the curviest of young ladies, she has a pleasant hourglass figure created by her moderate (above average) curves.
When it comes to clothes, Lina is pretty simple, she wears what she likes, and what she feels comfortable in. Some days this indicates a simple shirt and jean combo, while others she feels more comfortable dressing up. Despite her tastes being fairly simple, the girl has an eye for fashion and loves wearing a variety of clothes. Similarly, the clothes that she buys are always the finest of quality.
Extra: Always has her lantern (holder item) attached to her waist. When not in use it is a miniature version that can be easily transported.
III. PERSONALITY
Personality: Lina is a good hearted, kindred soul. She is always looking out for others, and attempting to brighten their day, be it through simple compliments, or another variation of a random act of kindness. A selfless individual, she tends to put other’s needs before her own, which in the long run has often left her alone.
She has a fun playful side, and it’s the simpler things (albeit the finer versions of these things) in life that make her happy: Good food, company, and a nice nap! The girl is often very sleepy for one reason or another, and can often be found curled up in a chair, on a couch, even under a tree-- taking a nap! She often finds herself in funny situations due to this common occurrence.
To most people, Lina Blythe-- the beautiful, fun, kind, blonde: is wonderful. However, she hides the darker parts of herself-- those that are doubtful of other's intentions, those that want to feel sorry for herself. She tries hard to let go of these feelings, but they creep up on her every now and again. She's occasionally known to be passive aggressive in her words when she's upset or feeling vulnerable, something she is still trying to rid herself of.
Because she likes to do so much for others, she often gets taken aback when attention is focused on her. A typically bubbly and outgoing person, she quickly becomes shy when others reciprocate her kindness. She does not accept presents well, often viewing them as "too much" or "excessive" though of course, she is always appreciative. She also gets "wide eyed" when people give her things and show her kindness, often reverting to a much younger self at the act.
She is scared of showing her weaknesses to others, and letting herself be vulnerable. She doesn't want to be seen as a burden to anyone, and thus finds it difficult to open up with someone, particularly about her past and her fear of lightening. Perhaps if she can get over the fear herself, she can find the strength to help others do the same. She does not yet seem to grasp the concept of being helped in order to learn how to help.
Typically friendly with everyone, there are few situations when Lina finds herself interacting with someone she doesn't care for. In these situations, the girl tends to keep quiet, though her body language typically tells the words she doesn't. Rolling of the eyes, and crossing of the hands over her body, an occasional tongue click, and disengagement from the conversation. She tries to avoid conflict, but if these type of people ask her for her opinion, she's not afraid to give it, and will be rather feisty about it too.

Motivations: Seeing others happy. Lina finds joy out of seeing others with a genuine smile on her face. Perhaps she is yet to outgrow some of her youthful ideals, but she strongly feels that the world is a place where everyone can be happy, at least in one degree or another. It is her goal to make the world a better place by spreading a bit of happiness at a time.
Fears:
- The sight of blood: The sight of blood has a couple different effects to Lina, primarily loss of consciousness upon sight of blood (her own or others) as well as nauseousness/vomiting. She is paranoid of situations in which she or someone else may get injured in a manner in which bleeding may occur.
- Thunderstorms: Lina hates thunderstorms with a burning passion. While she is aware that she is likely in no harm during these such storms, the sound of thunder will often result in her hiding in closets, under beds, etc. She also experiences other phobic symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, clamminess, and nausea.
Positive Traits:
- Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move three times your normal speed.
- Animal Affinity (+2): You are good with animals.

- Blind-Fight (+4): You know how to fight in melee without being able to see your foes.
Total: +12
Negative Traits:
- Squeamish (-1): You don't want anyone's blood on your hands. It's perfectly okay to get blood on your underling's hands, but you don't like to do the deed yourself. Of course, you don't always follow up on things to make sure the job actually gets done--after all, the sight of blood has always disturbed you.
- Trusting (-2): You don't like to believe that other people are capable of misleading and lying to you. After all, people are basically good, right?
- Compulsive Honesty (-2): You cannot tell a lie, nor can you behave in a deceitful fashion. You tend to be blunt rather than tactful, even if it means insulting someone who you and your companions are trying to impress.
- Clumsiness (-1): You have the unfortunate habit of dropping things, knocking things over, or tripping. Once per battle the opponent can call upon your clumsiness and easily dodge one of your attacks.
- Derangement/Insanity (-3): Phobia: A character afflicted by a phobia persistently fears a particular object or situation. She realizes that the fear is excessive and irrational, but the fear is disturbing enough that she avoids the stimulus. (Hemophobia: Fear of Blood)
- Derangement/Insanity (-3): Phobia: A character afflicted by a phobia persistently fears a particular object or situation. She realizes that the fear is excessive and irrational, but the fear is disturbing enough that she avoids the stimulus. (Astraphobia: Fear of Thunder and Lightening)

IV. MAGIC
Magic: Lantern of Mist
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description: Lina uses a lantern as her holder item. The lantern contains magical properties, that allow mist to exude from the lantern when the front hatch is opened. Depending on the mist color (spell), the mist has different abilities (listed in strengths) . Solely buffing magic, the mist will buff accordingly. Buffs will typically only affect Lina or allies in the space in which she casts it.
Strengths: Strengths of Lina’s magic lies in their 'supplementary' skills, as there is no offensive or defensive capabilities to her magic. She is able to create buffs by sending out a shroud of mist to surround herself and/or allies. This means she has the capability of buffing numerous people at once. Some potential buffs include: speed, evasion, strength and defense. These buffs have the ability to stack. Given certain spells, the mist may also be used to mask the user's presence during their use.
Weaknesses: As with all holder weapons, the lantern of mist’s magic will not work unless the lantern is in the possession of the user. Similarly because it is exclusively buffing magic, the caster has no offensive or defensive capabilities. She cannot make walls or shields of any sort, nor cause any direct spell-based damage to an opponent. Because mist magic focuses on creating a shroud of mist around herself and/or allies, it is weak to wind, which can blow the mist away.
V. HISTORY
History:
The only child of an esteemed couple in Narcis, the young Lina Blythe was the apple of her parent’s eyes. Her parents, public figure heads in the great city of Narcis, were well known and well liked-- good hearted people-- humanitarians by nature. They strongly believed that every person deserved happiness, or at least a shot at it, and instilled this belief in their daughter. Though good natured, if they could be faulted for one thing, it was their optimism about the world, and their willingness to shelter their daughter from the darkness that inhabits the world.
Despite the Blythe’s work with charities, there were people that wanted more-- as there always will be. It was a stormy night in July: the air itself was electrifying, loud crackles resonated all in the area. The young girl, but 8 at the time, had ran into her parents bedroom, at the sound of the thunder overhead, the loud pounding of rain against the house. Hidden under the sheets of her parents bed, her mother cooed her into calmness, as she always did.
Soon however, the three heard a crash and a bang that did not belong to the lightening. The blonde’s father, jolted from the bed, and without hesitation leaped from the bed, tossing his wife a look, before disappearing into the hall. The exchange of voices was lost over the rumble of the sky, but soon the young girl’s mother was up as well, collecting things from a closet. She placed a jacket over the young girl, the size swallowing the girl whole, and two suitcases, one larger: that she carried, a smaller one for the girl. The voices beyond the door had since turned into shouts, and the young girl soon knew that something was wrong.
”Momma-- what’s going on?”
She had been met with no answer, but only her mother’s index finger to her lips. The last thing to emerge from the closet was a lantern. Though when her mother opened the door to it, it was not light that had over taken the bedroom, but a heavy fog. The shouts turned to screams-- then silence. The thud of a body against the ground, followed by a door opening.
The fog was so dense that the young girl could see nothing, not even her mother’s hand, which she knew was grasping hers, leading her out of the house. The rest was a blur... crawling over the heap of a body that was once her father... the pounding of cold rain against her face... bare feet slipping in the mud beneath it... The red goo that had covered her mother’s shaking hand mixing with the rain... then blackness.
The girl woke up in a bed not her own, light flooded from the windows. It had stopped raining. There were roses next to her bed, and the lantern next to them. Lina sat up, eyes searching the room for a familiar face, one it didn’t find.
There was another thunderstorm the night after she had sent both of her parents in the ground. She had spent the entire night bundled up with the lantern in a coat closet of her grandmother’s house. Perhaps it was punishment for crying-- for not thinking of her grandmother that had to burry a child and not a parent. Or maybe it was just God being cruel.
Days passed, then weeks, then months. Slowly the girl crawled from her state of depression, the lantern left hidden away in the closet. She began to have dreams of her parents. Their good deeds, the happiness, the smiles-- the laughter from those they helped. She saw her parent's faces in the dreams, and desired to see them as much as she could. Soon she began to nod off whenever she could-- if only in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the happiness they had given her, given others.
As she grew older, she began to realize that dreams were not the only time she could feel happy-- but that happiness came from making those around her happy. That's what her parents had taught her, and it was true. She started with little things: random acts of kindness that were simple, holding the door open, voicing a compliment, keeping quiet when the truth wasn't one. The acts were hard at first, but became second nature over time.
As the girl grew into a young woman, her compassion too grew, and soon too did her curiosity. She wanted to see more of the world-- to impact lives be the missionary of her parent's message, even when she at times struggled with it herself. She left home at the age of 16, her mother's lantern securely fastened to her side. As she has traveled, she has slowly gained more skill with the magic, finding herself in Balsam, where she took refuge from a storm in the Sabertooth guild hall. Seeing how kind they were to let her in during the storm, the young woman had decided to become a guild wizard to use her magic to better the world, and she sought membership in Sabertooth.
