APPEARANCE
Height: 5’1
Weight: 120lbs
Hair: short, black.
Eyes: deep blue
Description: Ema has a slender, willowy build, and doesn’t have much muscle strength, although she can support her own weight quite well for short periods of time. Her skin is rather pale, as if it rarely sees the sun, and unblemished. Her unevenly cut hair is usually left hanging down, but pinned back out of her face with hair clips. Usually, these hair clips have some sort of leaf or other plant decoration on them in brightly painted colours.
Her daily outfit usually includes a light coloured jacket, pale undershirt, and skirts or shorts. Ema wears next to no jewelry, however she can always be found with a pocket watch and a locket on the same chain in her pocket. In her wardrobe, Ema has plenty of dresses and skirts that she doesn't like wearing in public, however when you meet her inside her ‘library’ she will be wearing one of her casual dresses.
PERSONALITY
Personality: Emalysse is fairly shy and reserved, she prefers the company of plants and books over the company of humans, to the point of which she will run away if confronted. Despite this she can be very outgoing and cheerful when she gets accustomed to the presence of new people. When this happens, it's hard to make her stop speaking her mind, but at least she attempts to keep her wording polite.
Ema tries to not say a word out loud when in the middle of strangers, however sometimes she is forced into it. Ema will, if necessary, defend herself, her friends, or her morals, and very vocally. When angered, she doesn't care for status or drawing attention, and is focused entirely upon proving her point or supporting her friend’s arguments.
Being a gentle spirit she hates fighting and will faint and/or scream at the sight of blood. If left in a stressful situation for too long, Ema starts to hallucinate , causing her to react erratically and unusually. This is usually caused through heavy social pressure, and isn't generally easily fixed. The hallucinations last about ten minutes or more before she returns to normal. Depending on the people around her when the hallucinations occur, Ema will probably run and disappear for a few hours afterwards.
Motivations: Ema’s dreams for the future are to become a world-renowned archeologist and environmentalist, however she also dreams often of her wedding day although she tries not to. Emalysse also hopes to one day avenge her parents’ murder.
Fears: She is absolutely terrified of blood, corpses and anything related, due to a tragic event in her past. Ema is also afraid of strangers, although she can’t remember why and is trying to overcome this fear by travelling around Fiore and meeting different people. She is also scared of losing her forests, or of getting lost in a place barren of any vegetation
Likes: Ema absolutely adores all plant life, which she received from her parents and sister, and is the source of her magic’s origin. Along with her love of plants came a love of animals, and so she tries her best to learn the languages of the animal kingdom. Ema also has a sweet tooth which is fairly self-explanatory.
Dislikes: Ema hates a variety of vegetables, cooked or uncooked, but her appetite isn’t leaning towards the carnivorous side either. Ema cannot digest red meat. She also has a fairly large vendetta against poachers and polluters. Naturally, she immediately files those who commit unnecessary acts of violence as enemies before even knowing their name.
Positive Characteristics:
- Stealthy (+3): You are particularly good at avoiding notice. You could be sitting somewhere in a thread at a bar and people wouldn't even notice that you were there.
Explanation: You are able to blend into a crowd, and those entering threads cannot initiate conversation with you until you speak or state your presence in an obvious matter by doing something that draws the attention of others. - Animal Affinity (+2): You are good with animals.
Explanation: Self explanatory. - High Society (+2): You know good manners and were trained to handle social interactions in noble circles. This is useful in requests involving members of the highest levels of society, such as monarchs, nobles, courtiers, lords and ladies, and high-ranking clerics.
Explanation: You are capable of having threads with nobles. Those without this feat cannot. - Diligent (+2): Your meticulousness allows you to analyze minute details that others miss.
Explanation: Reduces training cost of spells by 10% in word cost. - Acrobatic (+3): You have excellent body awareness and coordination.
Explanation: Character can perform flashy moves such as back flips, cartwheels and various other moves when dodging an attack.
Negative Characteristics:
- Allergies (-1): You are afflicted with allergies. These may be something as simple as hay fever, but the reactions to such will result in something like a huge bout of sneezing and gasping. You must mention this allergy in your character application. [red meat]
Explanation: Whenever this allergy comes into play you must suffer the consequences. The allergy must be something that can actually come and not something strange and unique. - Bruise Easily (-2): Each time you take bludgeoning damage, including that from falls, you take more damage than any other person.
Explanation: You will take extra damage from bludgeoning damage, whether it was done through a spell or not. The damage received from bludgeoning damage is increased by one class if it's a spell. - Compulsive Honesty (-2): You cannot tell a lie, nor can you behave in a deceitful fashion. You tend to be blunt rather than tactful, even if it means insulting someone who you and your companions are trying to impress.
Explanation: You can't lie and you will tell the truth when someone asks you something instead of lying. So if your team is impressing an ogre and the ogre asks if you guys are truly from the guild you guys claimed you were and lied about it, you will screw it up and say the truth. - Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations.
Merciful (-1): For a villain, you have a terrible weakness--you don't like to hurt people. Given the choice, you'd rather exile your deposed brother to another country than do him in. Whether this is because you want him to live knowing that you beat him, or whether you just have a small soft spot down in your heart somewhere, the result is the same: your enemies keep coming back again and again.
Explanation: You are unable to ever kill someone, NPC or otherwise. This means Requests that specifically request slaying a beast or person cannot be done by you.- Proud (-1): You don't like accepting help from others. If a gift or offer of aid smacks of charity or pity even the slightest bit, you grow indignant and refuse it.
Explanation: You win 10% less jewels from wheel spins. - Shy (-1): You are distinctly ill at ease when dealing with people, and you try to avoid social situations whenever possible. When you become the center of attention you freeze. Don't expect to make any public speeches.
Explanation: You can never speak first when entering a thread with someone. This includes initiating combat. - Squeamish (-1): You don't want anyone's blood on your hands. It's perfectly okay to get blood on your underling's hands, but you don't like to do the deed yourself. Of course, you don't always follow up on things to make sure the job actually gets done--after all, the sight of blood has always disturbed you.
Explanation: None of your spells can ever draw blood, but rather all damage will be restricted to internal. - Depression (-3): Symptoms of this illness include changes in appetite, weight gain or loss, too much or too little sleep, persistent feeling of tiredness or sluggishness, and feelings of worthlessness or guilt, leading in severe cases to hallucinations, delusions, stupor, or thoughts of suicide.
Explanation: You gain 10% less Jewel from Requests.
Vulnerable (-3): You are not very good at defending yourself and moving out of harm's way. In combat you take hits easily, in roleplay terms this means that you can only dodge one out of three attacks, regardless of how easy it was.
Explanation: You can only dodge 1 out of three attacks.
MAGIC
Magic: Florem Panacis
Type: Caster
Classes: Healing, Buff, Defense
Element: Plant
Description: Florem Panacis is less a type of magic, and more a healing art that uses the caster’s will to draw strength from the earth and convert it into energy, like how plants take energy from the sun. Spells use the attributes of nearby plants to acheive the goal of the spell, such as thorns on a rose to make a defense, or the photosynthetic properties of leaves to restore energy.
Emalysse specializes in the healing aspect of the magic’s potential.
Weaknesses: In an unhealthy environment Florem Panacis is highly unstable and prone to corruption. This means that a corrupt or unhealthy plant can make the magic wielder sick. When facing a plant based magic, any spells that involve the growth of plant matter (ie. A tree or vine) can be manipulated by the opponent.
Florem Panacis is weak against fire-based magics, and magic that uses brute strength to overwhelm the target.
Passive trait: members of Emalysse's family are all capable of speaking to and understanding some part of nature, with the exception of water, which runs too quickly, and wind which is usually a message carrier as opposed to a speaker. Emalysse speaks with trees and some tall bushes, , but not flowers or other small plants. Trees are rather arrogant and don't pay attention to most humans. The best Ema can get out of them is an accurate weather report or a narcissistic story of how old the tree really is.
HISTORY
History: Emalysse was born in a country almost on the polar opposite of the world from Fiore. When she was five, her parents were assassinated by a mage that had been invited to a ball held by her sister and her husband. Emalysse didn’t know any attendants except for her parents and her sister, so she spent most of the dance in the gardens with her brother-in-law. Her parents retired early, and Ema found their bodies hanging from the ceiling in their room, walls painted with their blood.
For two years she was home schooled by her sister who taught her magic, but she was soon forced to go to a boarding school in the Eastern part of Fiore and change her name when rumors started up about a rebellion in the country started by the man who had killed Ema’s parents. She left with few if her belongings, but for her father's favourite pocket watch and a locket given to her by her mother. Ema brought a comapanion with her, a snake from her origin country. Fortunately, Ema had inherited her mother’s brilliant mind and was able to graduate from the school at the top of the class – seven years early. This was partially because of her best friend Saera’s continuous donation of upper classmen’s textbooks, and a lack of sleep.
Upon graduating the first thing she did was to buy a travel bag, in which she was able to pack the majority of the belongings she had accumulated in her years at the academy, and left the rest of her things (snake included) with Saera,( aged 18 at that point), who opened a bookstore in Accadia. Ema was determined to travel around Fiore and discover as much as she could about the foreign land she had been shipped off to years ago. Just reading about it in textbooks was nothing compared to the real thing. Over the next four years Ema traveled along the coast, not wanting to stray any farther from the sole person in Fiore that she knew. Ema and Saera kept in close contact, with Ema being Saera’s maid of honour at her wedding a year later.
Emalysse has had a few small adventures, one involving a drunk snake, another involving rabbits, the most recent one being a date that wasn't quite all there. About seven months ago, Ema received a letter from the man who killed her parents, claiming that her sister was dead and he had taken the throne. She has since resigned herself to life in Fiore, but she has yet to come to terms with the fact that her family is dead and she couldn't have changed the outcome.
