APPEARANCE
Height: 5 foot 10

Description: Uriël stands at 5 foot 10, having a well-defined muscular complexion, showing his maturity. He has blonde, medium longer hair, reaching down to just above his shoulders, some people might consider his type of hairstyle messy. Even within the darkness he created, his bright red eyes still pierce through the abyss, as if he never loses sight. His skin color isn’t colored white nor tan, but a mixture of both, showing that he’s been under the sun often enough. The clothes on his body are rather traditional Japanese, a long, black vest, reaching down to just above his knees, the outlines of it being imprinted with patterns. It covers a white kimono underneath, the collar of it having a squared pattern, the squares being black colored while the rest of the collar is red. To top it all off, he wears regular sandals underneath, his white socks on his feet. Normally, he wears his usual carefree expression on his face.
PERSONALITY
Personality: Uriël has always been a down-to-earth kind of individual, not having a single care in the world and just going with whatever life throws at him. His reckless and daredevil nature may make him somewhat unpredictable, always leaving him hanging on the edge of death, the thrill that he gets from it is, for him, indescribable. Despite his daring nature, which might scare off some people, he never had any trouble befriending those around him. He’s able to easily lay the connection between him and the other person, but whether he chooses to or not always depends on himself. Although he’s not picky, he’s trying to keep himself conscious of the people he’s trying to befriend, always being the one that observes people closely, determining the individual’s own nature before engaging.
Because he never backs down from a challenge, even if it would put his life on the line, he’s not easily frightened by such trivial things, either. If he were, he wouldn’t be able to put himself in a situation such as those. Despite this and his carefree nature, he never wants to involve other people in the problems he created by himself, this counts double for his childhood friend that he had grown attached to, unusually more than he normally would. It shows his soft side, which not many people get to witness, because it’s often clouded by his confidence, in a good manner. He’s not an arrogant person, but rather believes that, at least with confidence, you can go a very long way in life. You shouldn’t hesitate but just push through it. Explains the reason why he’s always putting himself in such situations; improving himself and challenging his own limits, rather than the thing in front of him.
Motivations:
- Reuniting – The thing that’s probably at the top of his list is reuniting with his childhood friend Evangelina, whom he got separated from back at the orphanage.
- Development – Loving to travel around, he seeks again and again to develop himself. This is not meaning getting stronger necessarily, but aside from honing the body, also honing the mind. He doesn’t want to become someone relying on brute force, but rather become wiser and push him to evolve himself into something greater.
Fears:
- Abandonment – Having been in an orphanage, he fears the thought of being abandoned again. It’s possible this may have been a trauma, but whenever someone leaves for a temporary time, there’s a feeling of unease that they’re not returning anymore. He doesn’t take this feeling into account when he leaves himself, how others might feel. He never openly talks about this fear.
- Captivity – The fear of having his freedom taken away. There’s a reason why he never chose a Guild in the first place, it’s because of the walls making it feel like an isolation, despite what atmosphere might be there. He prefers to be in the outside world, where he can breathe in the fresh air and have all the space he needs. The world as his playground.
Likes:
- Sense of Freedom – The reason why he doesn’t belong to any of the Guilds. Feeling restricted, he prefers to plunge himself into the open world rather than be in between four walls. Going and standing where he pleases, he craves freedom.
- Stargazing – What’s beyond the stars across the heaven? Although actually no one knows the answer, the question still intrigues him, while gazing up, every time his heart beats his interest in such knowledge grows, although being positive he won’t be able to find out in his lifetime.
Dislikes:
- Guilds – He doesn’t necessarily hate them, but given that he likes the taste of freedom, he dislikes them without even being in one before. He doesn’t know what goes on inside guilds, but he’s better off not knowing.
- Light Magic – This is natural given his magical affinity; Darkness. In his eyes, light is the only thing that can enlighten one engulfed in the abyss, therefore any with the light element being a threat to him.
- Drama / Panic – This is something that he actually strongly dislikes. Anything that involves drama or eventually results in a drama, results in a headache for him. Normally on such occasions, he’d take off without saying a word only to give his brain a rest from all the words flying from left to right.
Positive Characteristics:
- Blindsight (+4): Using senses such as acute hearing and sensitivity to vibrations, you detect the location of opponents who are no more than five feet away from you. Darkness and Invisibility are irrelevant, though you cannot detect non corporeal beings.
Explanation: Self Explanatory. - Daunting Presence (+2): You are skilled at inducing fear in your opponents.
Explanation: Players of lesser rank cannot initiate combat against you, but are capable of defending themselves.
Negative Characteristics:
- Daredevil (-2): You only really feel alive when you're staring death in the face. Your character is addicted to the thrill of death-defying stunts, pushing themselves to the limit at every available opportunity.
Explanation: You can't refuse the opportunity of engaging into combat with anyone or anything that is stronger than you. You also always volunteer and perform tasks that have a risk attached to them when you are in a group. - Overconfident (-1): Nothing is beyond your capabilities. If you wanted, you could defeat the best swordsman in the world; you just haven't had any reason to do so yet. And surely that chasm isn't too wide for you to leap across.
Explanation: You are easily goaded, and anyone attempting to taunt you will succeed. - Reckless (-1): You lack the emotion of fear. Unfortunately, it is often an important cue that keeps men from doing foolhardy things. Sure, you don't flinch at the sight of even the most hideous monster, but neither do you feel the need to run away when outclassed.
Explanation: You can never flee from a fight with someone who is stronger than you. - Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations. - Fanaticism (-1): This can be a substantial disadvantage for a character, though it requires significant roleplaying commitment on the part of the player. The fanaticism can be dedication to a particular cult, religion, or god, or it can be more worldly-based, in the sense of overwhelming loyalty to a state, a military presence, or to a particular leader. Whatever their sources, the different types of fanaticism have several things in common. If a certain code of behavior is called for by the belief, then the character must conform to that behavior even if it conflicts with the immediate goals of the character and his companions. While fanaticism is not necessarily evil, it may certainly become tiresome to those who do not share the fanatics beliefs.
Explanation: You must always strongly act out to your beliefs even if it goes against your immediate goals or it brings the lives of people you care about in danger.
MAGIC
Magic: Darkness Magic
Type: Caster
Classes: Offensive, Defensive, Debuff
Element: Darkness
Description: The user utilizes Darkness oriented magic. The harboring of this magic causes the user slight forms of exhaustion, having to use more physical energy during the daytime. It doesn’t affect his ability directly. With this magic, the user can utilize both offensive and defensive spells. In order to debuff a target, the user intimidates the opponent by creating a manifestation from within the darkness and install fear into them. The offensive and defensive techniques can be of a wide variety, either cloaking himself in it or forcing it outwards to cause physical or internal damage.
Weaknesses: The one thing that can negate Darkness magic and brighten a path is Light magic. Because of this, Light Magic has a +1 against this type of magic. C-Rank Darkness Spell vs D-Rank Light spell is enough for the light spell to cancel the darkness spell out.
HISTORY
History: “Eva, who are you talking to?” A seven year old boy hovered curiously above the tiny, five year old Eva. The smiling boy looked at her so strangely but with a glow of hidden enthusiasm that when his hands wound around hers to lift her off the muddy ground she silently sat on, his eyes darted around in hopes to find the unimaginable.
“I’m talking to the sparkles,” she would reply and with great care look down between the flowers and leaves. Recognition swam deep in her eyes as if she saw something so natural that others were the queer ones for not seeing what she did.. “Don’t you see them?” eyes wide with curiosity, she would turn to her friend.
“Uriel?”
It was a rather small orphanage, run by just the old lady and her son. Each and every individual there had their own unique story fitting for them, though most of them were with tragedy. Abandonment, loss and trauma. There were just two people, however, that didn’t seem to have the same background as the most of the orphans around and ironically, this was the person Uriël could get along with the best; Evangeline Cloud. Being the kind of person that’s easygoing and carefree, he has no trouble connecting with people and befriending them in such a way. Evangeline was no exception, but for some reason, he never got the chance to connect with any of the other orphans. To him, Evangeline was the only person that could catch his eye and at the same time maintain his interest in her. From Uriël perspective, Evangeline seemed the odd one out. Usually being by herself, she didn’t seem to like to talk to the others, except when Uriël came into play.
It didn’t matter what she was doing, Uriël just smiled and treated her like the person she was; his only friend. Even on the times where she was talking to trees or just staring through the window, watching the rain, Uriël would join her in these unusual ‘hobbies’. In fact, he didn’t dislike it at all. Perhaps that’s why he was attracted and connected with her; because of her individuality.. She’s unique. In comparison to her, Uriël was just another plain person that had nothing interesting going on at all. Uriël himself, although he didn’t dislike being alone, preferred to be around the presence of others, even though he would not be in direct contact or conversations with them. He never had a single care in the world, some people believing that he might just have a death wish; he embarked on the reckless adventures and choose the most daredevil ways of getting something done; something that other people would definitely think twice about, he’d just do it without giving it a single thought more.
Unlike most of the orphans, Uriël didn’t get adopted. Rather; he chose not to get adopted. Time had passed and Evangeline, the one he had grown closest to, had been adopted by someone, who’s completely unknown to him. For her, the peaceful days might not have ended, but the thought still lingers on in that mind of his, Evangeline never vanishing from his thoughts. This is the moment where they both went their own direction and following their own path in life, although completely different. Uriël didn’t choose the life of luxury. In fact, as he grew older, he decided to venture out in the open world by himself; at the age of 11, even. He has always been reckless and carefree, this would be the perfect road for him to take. A person like him, that has nothing to lose to begin with and can only be mesmerized by what the world has to offer, instead of being closed in by the four walls they called an orphanage, how peaceful those times may have been. He had been craving for something different; a taste of freedom. As he watched Evangeline’s back as she held the hands of the man that had just adopted her, a feeling of loneliness surged through his body. To him, it was indescribable. Could this feeling be compared to loss? He couldn’t cling onto the past, however. Evangeline was happy, right? So he had to be as well, for her sake.
All this time, he had gained experience while getting himself hurt day in, day out. He met various kinds of people, but the only person that he didn’t meet and he was eager to reunite with was his childhood friend, the one from the orphanage; Evangeline. The locations he had seen, the beauty of the world.. Somewhere deep down, he would trade those things in for the sake of reuniting with Evangeline once again, but he knew that it wouldn’t work that way. In order to reunite, he had to do that by himself. Not rely on coincidence or fate, but take matters into his own hands. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why he decided to embrace the world and travel around the globe. For the sake of meeting her again. Those memories still lived on strongly within his mind, her vivid image still being as clear as day to him, even though it had been several years since they last met.
His clothes were completely worn out, having cuts and bruises across his body and dirt scattered across his face and hands. Standing on the edge of a cliff, he watched over the world as if it was only there for a brief moment, scanning with his eyes and taking in every little bit of detail, being positive that he would be able to tell her stories, should they meet again. Stories of how he traveled the world, stories of the people and places he had visited. Until that day, however, with his head held high, he stood on his own.
